5.3. Syllabus

The course will address the following topics:

Topic 1. The crisis of the Greek polis.

Topic 2. Greece in the historical juncture: hegemony, Persia and Macedonia. Rhetorical history.

Topic 3. Hellenistic monarchy: the historians of Alexander.

Topic 4. Greece and Rome: Polybian view of the history.

Topic 5. Greek identity and empire: geography and history in Strabo.
